Generative AI has become a double-edged sword for enterprises. While promising unprecedented productivity gains, it also introduces complex security vulnerabilities that traditional tools cannot address. Prompt Security is stepping into this breach with a groundbreaking $18 million funding round that could redefine how organizations protect themselves in the AI era.

The funding, led by Jump Capital and backed by tech giants like Okta and F5, comes at a critical moment. Gartner’s research paints a sobering picture. Nearly 30% of enterprises deploying AI have already experienced a security breach. The average organization now uses 67 GenAI tools, with almost 90% lacking proper corporate approval or licensing.

“As enterprises accelerate their adoption of GenAI, so do the associated risks,” says Itamar Golan, Co-Founder and CEO of Prompt Security. “This funding supercharges our mission to enable the safe use and deployment of GenAI in enterprises by mitigating such risks”

Prompt Security’s platform offers a comprehensive shield against AI-related threats. It inspects prompts and model responses, prevents sensitive data leaks, blocks harmful content, and secures against AI-specific attacks like prompt injections and jailbreaks. The company provides complete visibility and governance over AI tools, addressing the critical security gaps that most organizations are struggling to manage.

Since emerging from stealth in January 2024, the company has demonstrated remarkable growth. They’ve quadrupled their revenue, expanded their customer base fivefold, and attracted Fortune 500 companies. Most notably, they became the first vendor to provide comprehensive security for Copilot for Microsoft 365.

The founding team brings deep cybersecurity and AI expertise. Co-founder Itamar Golan previously established AI divisions at Check Point Software Technologies and Orca Security, and was part of the core team behind OWASP’s Top 10 for LLM Applications. Co-founder Lior Drihem brings 18 years of experience from Check Point, including a role as Director of Innovation.

Saurabh Sharma from Jump Capital sees Prompt Security as a critical solution in the AI landscape. “Prompt Security is addressing one of the most critical gaps in today’s rapidly evolving AI landscape,” he noted. “We’re convinced they are well-positioned to conquer one of the fastest-growing markets in security today.”

With this new funding, the company plans to expand its geographic footprint and deepen its presence across industries. The goal remains clear – enabling enterprises to harness the power of generative AI without compromising security, privacy, or compliance.
