Artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly influential, and while adversaries are leveraging this powerful tool to refine and complicate their techniques, security defenders are actively responding by using it to enhance their capabilities as well.

Two cybersecurity powerhouses, Check Point Software Technologies and Cisco, have made strategic acquisitions to strengthen their offerings. These moves are in line with the growing importance of implementing advanced threat intelligence and AI security in the enterprise sector.

On August 27, Check Point announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire Cyberint Technologies Ltd., a leading provider of external risk management solutions. With this acquisition, Check Point aims to enhance its Security Operations Center (SOC) capabilities and expand its managed threat intelligence services.

Founded in 2010, Cyberint has become a key player in the market, leveraging AI to serve a global clientele. The company’s AI-driven defence strategies address the threats of leaked credentials and malicious websites, which currently impact over 90% of organisations.

Their offerings include real-time threat intelligence, detection and takedown of fraudulent websites and leaked credentials, as well as comprehensive risk management solutions.

Cyberintโ€™s AI-driven solutions will be integrated into the Check Point Infinity Platform, a unified cybersecurity architecture designed to protect networks, cloud, and endpoints from advanced threats, and will also be offered as a managed service through Check Point Infinity Platform Services.

The integration of Cyberintโ€™s capabilities into Check Pointโ€™s platform will empower the latter with more comprehensive security measures, enhancing threat intelligence and protection against sophisticated cyber threats.

In a similar move, Cisco announced on August 26 its intention to acquire Robust Intelligence, Inc., a company specialising in AI security solutions.ย

Robust Intelligenceโ€™s platform provides comprehensive protection for AI models throughout their lifecycle, addressing risks such as prompt injection, data poisoning, and unintentional model outcomes.

This acquisition aligns with Ciscoโ€™s commitment to securing AI-driven enterprises. Additionally, it supports its goal of enhancing Cisco Security Cloud, a cloud-native platform that provides unified, AI-driven security solutions across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

Integrating Robust Intelligenceโ€™s solutions will enable Cisco to use AI to simplify security, enhance user experiences, and defend against emerging threats. This integration will also strengthen Ciscoโ€™s commitment to responsible AI use, improve protection for AI applications, streamline operations, and offer unmatched visibility into AI traffic.

These acquisitions by Check Point and Cisco represent significant advancements in cybersecurity. As threats continue to evolve, integrating AI-based technologies will be crucial in protecting organisations from increasingly sophisticated attacks.
